“Sordevolo Passion Play”: “Il Biellesissimo” Unveiled at Terra Madre Salone del Gusto in Turin Regional Councillor Paolo Bongioanni: “In ‘Il Biellesissimo,’ one can sense the deep devotion that the Passione di Sordevolo holds for its local territory.”

Monday, September 28, 2026 – On Friday, September 25, the Sordevolo Passion Play was presented to the public at Terra Madre Salone del Gusto 2026, highlighting its centuries-old tradition and deep connection to the Biella area and the Piedmont region. During the event, one of the signature culinary initiatives for the 2027 edition was officially introduced: “Il Biellesissimo” (“The Quintessential Biella”), a regional dish designed to offer visitors an authentic taste of the territory. The initiative was unveiled by Stefano Rubin Pedrazzo, President of the Sordevolo Folk Theatre Association, alongside Paolo Bongioanni, Regional Councillor for Piedmont.

The significance of this project lies in its symbolic value. “Il Biellesissimo” brings together artisanal products that best represent the food and wine identity of the Biella region, serving as an emblem of local heritage. The platter features Mucroncina and Paletta cured meats from Mosca1916; breadsticks, Canestrelli (traditional hazelnut cookies), and Paste di Meliga (cornmeal cookies) from Brusa; select cheeses from Botalla; Menabrea beer; and Lauretana mineral water.

The connection between “Il Biellesissimo” and the Sordevolo Passion Play reflects the Association’s commitment to delivering a complete and immersive regional experience. Combining large-scale popular theatre, regional tourism, and authentic gastronomy, Association President Stefano Rubin Pedrazzo explained: “Our project aims to involve the entire Biella area, offering true added value by integrating culture, territorial promotion, and food and wine traditions.”

Regional Councillor Paolo Bongioanni also addressed the audience, emphasizing the importance of combining regional strengths into a unified vision capable of elevating tourism across Biella: “Modern tourists seek meaningful experiences that connect them directly with local communities, their identities, and their heritage. In this context, culture, historical tradition, and gastronomy play a central role—and this initiative brings them together seamlessly. ‘Il Biellesissimo’ clearly reflects your profound love for this land.”
