The “Sordevolo Passion Play 2027” Unveils the Cast for Its 29th Edition Sordevolo Folk Theatre Association: “Starting today, the project takes concrete shape: over the coming months, rehearsals with the new performers will officially begin.”

Monday, October 5, 2026 – On Saturday, October 3, a special gathering for the Sordevolo Passion Play revealed the cast members for the 2027 edition of this grand popular theatre production. Held at the Giovanni Paolo II Amphitheatre in Sordevolo, the event drew a large turnout of residents and candidates who had applied for roles during the summer of 2026.

The afternoon opened with moving remarks from Association President Stefano Rubin Pedrazzo: “There is immense community pride and attachment to the tradition of the Sordevolo Passion Play. Today marks ‘day zero’—the start of a shared journey of effort and commitment that, over the coming months, will unite us as one single family within the 4,000 square meters of this amphitheatre.”

Following an address by Director Flaminia Perino—who outlined the promotional work conducted over recent months—the floor was given to the Directing Committee. Committee Head Gian Marco Pidello stated: “We have dedicated extensive effort to studying the script and set design. In the months ahead, our priority will be to convey the emotions experienced during preparation, ensuring the performance delivers an engaging and powerful spectacle.” The Directing Committee also expressed gratitude for the candidate turnout. Committee member Anna Pidello noted: “Given the remarkably high number of applicants, those not assigned a specific speaking role will still participate as part of the ensemble of extras. This gathering marks the transition to active stage work and represents the culmination of months of auditions—a journey defined by emotion, dedication, and a shared sense of family.”

Concluding the presentations, Technical Coordinator Elisabetta Chiappo explained the casting criteria, noting that at least three performers were selected for each primary role to ensure full coverage across performances. The main cast list for the 2027 season was then officially announced to enthusiastic applause from the audience.
