The Territory on a Plate
In Sordevolo — a village just a few kilometres from Biella — the Associazione Teatro Popolare launched Biellesissimo to symbolise the connection between the Sordevolo Passion Play and the Biellese. For the 2027 performance, the association aims to strengthen and consolidate synergies with the local territory, which plays an increasingly vital role in the show. Within this context, the organizers created Biellesissimo as a dish featuring typical, zero-kilometre local products.
Visitors can purchase the dish exclusively in the area of the Pope John Paul II Amphitheatre in Sordevolo (Biella) and at the MeBo Museum in Biella. The initiative features cheeses, beverages, cured meats, breadsticks, and sweets from local Biellese companies. Specifically, Biellesissimo includes the following products:
- Cheeses from Botalla Formaggi;
- Beer from Birra Menabrea
- Cured meats from Macelleria Mosca 1916
- Traditional breadsticks and biscuits from Brusa
- Water from Lauretana
- Wine from Tenute Sella
- Beüme Apple Juices from Cascina Imperolo
Biellesissimo thus symbolises an increasingly tight bond with the Biellese and adds value to the Sordevolo Passion Play 2027. This dish offers spectators arriving in Sordevolo a complete 360degree experience, creating lasting memories that combine tourism, culture, and Biellese food and wine traditions.
